I have a very old but sturdy old laptop carrier. It is made of kevlar or something and has steel reinforced sides and sling for my laptop. It is uncomfortable and ugly and also permanently dirty. I really want to replace it with something prettier and more importantly comfortable to carry while walking, and also lighter! (But it has to offer enough protection for my iBook.)

We've all seen the standard business man laptop bag. I don't want that!

So in my quest for a comfortable and not ugly laptop carrier I have found:

Chrome bags, which come to think of it I knew about because muffinbutt has one. Not quite my style. Maybe ten years ago. I'm sort of in different and less cool place now. :(

This one from Patagonia which is bright and cheery and would hold other items. I have a Critical Mass bag that I used to carry all my work, school, and gym things when I lived in Cambridge and biked everywhere. Great bag. This one is similar but not quite as large. I would need to buy a neoprene sleeve though.

This one is supercute! and RED! I really like it. It is cheaper through their very cute site but not really what I need. I kind of want it anyway.

This very pink one is um, er...it doesn't look comfortable for trekking around everywhere. Kind of reminds me of Pepto Bismol.

Wow, This one is blinding me. It looks cheap and it is cheap. Hmmmm. pass.

This one with horsies is just horrendous!

I think I would need to be French or German to carry this one. Not sure why. It just scream Europe at me.

piperki pointed me towards this article but that thing is expensive and not quite what I want. Of course she only pointed me at it because I asked at the same time the article came up!

I'm intrigued by these it may just be the bright green interior. And they come in a sling thinger too. They look comfortable, durable, and affordable. Hmmmm. I may have to choose function over style. Damn.
