I was just tooling around myspace because a friend from college has a new band that dresses in karate outfits and plays music. they are on myspace. the karate kids...

I've always felt a little too old for myspace, but I have had an account there anyway for over a year. I don't really use it. And I am struck every time I get a friend request from some random person I don't know, and everytime I visit someone's profile that it the whole thing site is really all about being SPECIAL. This is probably one of those things that has already occured to everyone else and I am finally getting it. I'm 36 and just missed the brunt of the "you are special" childhood rearing and schooling movement. All I ever heard was "not working up to your potential" in increasinly angry tones. Go me! I'm special in obdurate and unpleasant way.
