Book 1, draft iii:

So I broke 50k words and 70%! \o/

So I'm in the home stretch. I need to get this ms back to agent in a few weeks. Then I'm going to try making soap. I'm going to knit. I'm go to try and find someone to take this silly short story. I'm going to sleep. I'm going to start poking at Book 2 again.

I'm trying to stay focused and not let anxiety flood all my thoughts. I know this third draft is good, but I still fear that I am kidding myself and no one else will think so. Old habits die hard. But I think I am doing OK as long as I keep getting up in the mornings ready to write and actually writing every day.

Side note: I started watching Life on Mars (the UK version) and JEEBUS H CHRIST it is good. There are only two seasons and 16 episodes. If you like cop shows you should totally watch this one because it turns them all on their heads.

Book I, draft iii:

I have to go for a sleep study tonight. They're going to put all sorts of electrodes on me and have me sleep. That should be odd. Also I wasn't supposed to drink caffeine this late in the day. Whoops. Shouldn't matter too much. I have to take an Ambien to sleep anyway.

I feel slightly worried that my novel has just gotten ridiculous.

"Ready to meet your slayer?" I called to Anthony, who was already dressed as Angel and sprawled on the bed.

He smiled as I pounced on him, wrestling him under the duvet, wielding my stake. We stripped off our outfits, and as we made love, I had a mind-blowing orgasm.

On the show, Angel and Buffy can only kiss and cuddle because a parallel universe is opened if a vampire and mortal have sex.




I do believe I just sprained something laughing.
