I tried on Monday to go out to my coffee shop and sit down and start trying to pull the old pieces of the first draft together. I have to delete quite a lot--but it's OK. My first draft can be a little Frankenstein-esque. Those problems will disappear when I write the second draft.

Monday there were too many people who wanted to chat or that I wanted to talk to like [livejournal.com profile] flourish and I just got nothing done.

Today I felt so awful and crampy and tired I curled up in bed and read and did nothing else until it was time to make dinner. I made a baked cheese omlet (almost like a souffle) and buttermilk biscuits. Very like breakfast for dinner.

So Wednesday. I shall head for my coffee shop and bring my headphones. This second novel is the one with the enchanted codpiece from this painting:

I forgot how murky first drafts are. This is a little painful and I'm having a hard time relaxing and just letting it be a first draft, i.e. messy, not totally in scene, and finding its feet.

I started writing "Aegis" at the end of January last year. I started the second book (which has no name yet) last July, but only wrote a third of it. So I feel like I'm clearing brush and trying to salvage useful parts from that draft--which may be why I feel so frustrated right now. I know I shouldn't be editing what I write and yet I have to to salvage stuff from last summer's false start.

So anyway:
