I haven't been posting word count updates because I've been stuck in such a fiddly place for weeks and I finally seem to have broken through that wall. I was rather surprised that I am three thousand words past the last time I posted a word count. Progress in later novel drafts is a very squiggly thing.

My motto for this draft is fast becoming, "Stick to the point."

Aegis draft v, split POV:

15678 / 68500 words. 23% done!

I'm a little proud I broke through. It's been a slog to get this far. I don't expect the rest of the novel to be any easier, but I didn't sign up for this because I thought it would be easy. I'm like a little goat going up a mountainside slowly, slowly, slowly.

"but now even going to your own home while black [is a crime] is a new low in police community affairs." You know it's bad when I think the Rev. Al Sharpton is being subtle.

My local police. yay? Seriously? The neighbor who called this in deserves to have her house egged.
