We took my cousin Tristan (named for the character Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small and therefore also for the opera) for his hand surgery in Providence. He's a freshman at RISD. It went well though it took most of the day to get checked in and have the surgery and then wait around in recovery after. We managed to get his pain meds filled. And then took him out to dinner because he was starving. The surgery was only an hour or maybe a little less--so I guess that makes sense. Usually after surgeries I'm so queasy I can't eat anything, but those were three and four hour surgeries. And everyone is different. We took him back to his dorm and I got to see his room. Two 18 year old boys live in it. It's a mess.

I haven't spent much time in Providence before and it was nice to see the area around RISD/Brown. And we finally got a chance to ask Tristan (cousin) what his classes are like. He's in the architecture program.

Poor David took the day off to drive us around, which he volunteered to do. He worked in the waiting room and since we got home he's been working for almost six hours. EEK! I hope he can go to bed soon.

Tomorrow I get back to work. I couldn't do any today. My very weird plan is the chop +/-5,000 words, simplify this section of the plot arc and then move on to the next bit. I don't know what the catchy phrase could be for November is finish your fucking fifth draft month NoIFYFuFiDraMo. Um, no. D:

I'm feeling horrendously incoherent. Oh, the title. I was looking for a phantom CVS to pick up a few things for Tristan and I walked around behind the hospital and there were some slightly sketchy areas. It was fine during the day and I was hyper aware of cars parked with occupants and cars circling the block and etc. I'm a little bit paranoid--which comes from being mugged at knife point in the Bowery in 1992. I was walking alone because I'd had a fight with idiot boyfriend.

We're starting to seriously talk about a London/Paris trip for next April/May. I'm quite pleased. (This ties in because we'll be staying with my aunt whose son we carted around all day today.)
