I don't really know who I am when I'm not in the middle of a big project. Isn't that terrible? It's probably also disingenuous on my part. It's one of those things I say that I think sounds good, but is really only half true. I'm a liar, after all.
Draft five is done. I'm trying not to think too much about what will happen next with it and whether or not all five drafts were a waste of 2.5 years of my life. I so desperately want someone to say, "Yes, tweak this and this and then we'll shop the manuscript." I am bracing for--"not quite, take another pass." And dreading, "This just isn't working. Sorry."
I had this idea that I would post a photo of what we got in our CSA box each week and then I would post what I did with the items, but I just haven't had the wherewithal to do that. I don't know why. It's not like I'm doing much else, but my pain levels have shot up a bit and that makes everything physically harder for me to do.
This week we got kale and cabbage, neither of which I normally buy. I don't mind cabbage so long as it is not covered in mayonnaise or cooked to death, but I really hate kale. It's the texture. It makes my teeth feel soft. I'll probably make kale chips with it and hope that baking it into crunchy chips eliminates the weird chalky sponginess.
I'm even in-between knitting projects. I'm waiting for yarn to come in the mail so I can knit a dress for my friend's baby shower. I need to get yarn to knit Totoros. I found some cotton/wool in my stash and knit a hat for something to do. I guess it's not so hot that I can try to untangle some wool to knit another hat. I found some kidsilk haze that I knitted and frogged and now it's positively Gordian. I have wool for two sweaters, but it's not really good for summer knitting. I'm pretty sure I'm going to knit the Totoros out of cotton or wool cotton.
