I sent my agent type person an email two days ago telling her I was about to start the sixth draft and I would love to have any feedback she has--if she's had time to read. (She's had the fifth draft since June 24th.) I am back on radio silence with her, I guess. I am getting pretty fed up with it. How hard is it to send a quick email that says, "Haven't had time to read yet" or "Will have comments for you later, hold on" or "I hated it and you should consider an alternate career as a truck driver"?

So meh.

Still meditating on the center of the novel. And I realize I was wrong with my quick and dirty analysis of what the center is--the one I did last week. I thought it was about answering the question "what does it mean to be a monster?" but reading Mockingjay and thinking how clearly the center of all three of those books is revolution under an oppressive regime--well, that got me thinking. At its heart my novel(s) is(are) about female sexuality and female empowerment and how men can fit into those constructs as allies. Now I need to go forth and make sure that is clear on every page (so to speak).

Another agent asked for the first three chapters thanks to firyenze. And I think she'll get back to me much more quickly than current agent. A glacier is speedier.
