So despite drugging myself into what should have been oblivion last night? I slept maybe three hours. I was up until almost three and Wooster cat woke me up at 5:45 with some very loud playing, right by my head. Why, yes. He was batting a rattle mouse against my head and getting it tangled in my hair and having a grand old time.

Then David woke up and got ready for work and I thought I might be able to go back to sleep, only he was running late and grabbed my laptop to take his 7:30 am meeting from home. Our apartment is the size of a teaspoon, so it was essentially like he was taking the meeting inside my skull.

So no sleep. Just waiting.

He came over just now to say good bye and said, "I am so excited! Whatever happens! I am excited." He said that while bouncing up and down on the sofa. Then he grabbed my hand and said solemnly, "May the odds be ever in your favor." Cackled and left. Then stuck his head back in the door and said, "You'd better put that on your LJ."

ABNA Publishers Weekly Reviewer of Aegis:

Blending magical elements and Greek mythology with a believable depiction of modern day Cambridge, Mass., this manuscript hits many of the right notes for an exciting and satisfying young adult adventure. Teenage Allie has been having bizarre dreams along with boy trouble, and when homeless peer, Alex, saves her from a mugging, the two become entwined by fate. They soon learn that Allie’s dreams may be much more real than she thinks when they are warned by a mystic that Allie is a descended of Metis (a tragic figure in Greek mythology, raped by Poseidon before being transformed in the Gorgon Medusa). Alex tries to protect Allie even as she succumbs to the Gorgon blood within her. The teens travel between countries and even worlds in a quest to break the curse. An engaging romp through a well-realized world, this novel not only tells a compelling story, but sets the stage for further adventures.
