I didn't notice that they put up a statistics tab on AO3. When did they do that? I'm a little stunned to see that I've posted 177,044 words.

Usually as I walk up Mass Ave here in Porter Square I hear traffic, bus breaks squealing, trucks rumbling, people shouting, laughing, and chatting on cell phones, cop cars and ambulances wailing by--all normal city noises.

But occasionally there is a beautiful sound that floats down onto the street level. There is a violinist in the building on the corner of Linnaean Street and Mass Ave who is amazing. I don't know exactly what she was playing when I walked by just now--though it sounded like it might be Bach. I don't know for certain it's a she--I just feel that it is.

There is a man in my building who sings opera, but I can only hear him when I'm outside walking by. He has a powerful tenor and practices in the afternoons. I can hear his voice ringing through the courtyard. I never have any idea what he's singing, but it's wonderful to hear him belting it out. His voice is enormous and warm. I'm assuming he's a professional. He certainly sounds like one.

It makes me feel like I am living in one of Sempé's musician sketches.
