I'm probably badly misquoting from the movie "Prisoner of 2nd Avenue" in that there subject line. IMDb is not helpful on their quote page for that movie. I think that is one of the most underated Jack Lemmon and Neil Simon movies ever. Plus Sylvester Stallone has a bit part and is hilarious.
So I just took a quiz to see what kind of nerd I am. I know I am a weird sort of hybrid, a nerdy conglomerate of science, math, and literature. But I like to see what quizzes come up with for answers to what I am. But this quiz is hilarious. It assumes that everyone taking it will still be in high school, and undecided about what they want to BE.
But my favorite is this question:

Who the hell is Leonard De Vince? Never mind Van Goah. LOL. Oh, dear. Also the code to link your results is horrible and long. Seriously, view source and see for yourselves.
So the subject line? We have no hot water. I went to take a bath last night at 12:30 and the hot water suddenly stopped working. Then the water was full of silt. So I didn't take a bath. This morning? No hot water. But I don't care because I have coffee and so many people have remembered it is my birthday and left me good wishes or sent me virtual cupcakes! I feel all giddy and loved. Thank you!!
David went shopping last night and then wanted to wrap my present. I showed him where the wrapping paper and and my large collection of ribbon were and left him to it. He was out in the dining room wrapping for a very long time. I was horribly curious, but I stayed in the bedroom and kept reading. Bertie was shut in with me because he loves to grab the ribbon while you are trying to tie it on a present and yanks it and generally goes nutjobby and makes a giant pest out of himself. But he kept running to the door and making a very sad little cry. He knew David was out there doing something fun with ribbon. We just didn't have any idea.
After about half an hour David presented me with this:

I laughed for a good ten minutes. He used every kind of ribbon I have. I'm not going to open it until he gets home from work. I almost don't want to open it at all because wow. That was a lot of work. The photo doesn't really do it justice. It makes me giggle every time I see it. Besides while I was hiding out in the bedroom and he was out wrapping it, I had this wave of wellbeing wash over me. God knows things in our lives are not perfect--but I am very lucky to have such a loopy, delightful husband and our sweet cat. And looking at the still wrapped present that David apparently drove to New Hampshire to get, helps me hold onto that feeling.
There is a package for me at the post office too, from my dad. And tonight we are headed out for really delicious flat bread pizza and wine. And also chocolate mousse cake at Burdicks. I may be grubby if we don't get any hot water, but I don't care.

What Be Your Nerd Type? Your Result: Literature Nerd Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it's eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today's society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works. | |

Doo doo de doo waaaa doo de doo! (<-- That's you playing something.) Everyone appreciates the band/orchestra geeks and the pretty voices. Whether you sing in the choir, participate in a school/local band, or sit at home writing music, you contribute a joy to society that everyone can agree on. Yay! Welcome to actually doing something for poor, pathetic human souls. (Just kidding.)
