For some reason I always end up making reservations and finding the restaurants when someone wants to take me out to dinner. I guess I should not complain because I get many nice dinners out of the deal, and I could never afford them otherwise. My in-laws are coming for my graduation and want to take us out to celebrate. They have pretty much given me carte blanche for restaurants. I meant to call Babbo two weeks ago and make a reservation but I didn't. I'm assuming it is too late but I should call them in the morning just in case.
The Mercer Kitchen seems too huge and overstimulating. The Bridge Cafe is a maybe. Right now I have a reservation at Cafe Boulud. Daniel is too expensive and was booked weeks ago. Cafe Boulud gets an amazing rating and I have always wanted to eat there. It sounds more relaxed than Daniel.
If I knew we wouldn't have to wait for forver I would be happy at Blue Ribbon on Sullivan. Maybe other New Yorkers can recommend restaurants that are nice enough for a major celebration, are not like Le Cirque, and won't be crazy like Mercer Kitchen, and that we could still reserve a table at two weeks from now?
