The baristas at my coffee shop said my arm looks like someone tried to brand me and failed. But really I just had 50 injections to test for spring allergens. Turns out I am very allergic to maple trees. Huh.

I'm hovering at 96% done and it looks like I'll still pull off my deadline, but I'm kind of freaked about the ending. It took me 8 months to write this draft and the first 20 chapters are so solid and the end is all Frankenstein-y and sewn together from bits I unearthed and newly written pieces that are raw. ARGH.

Well, I still have three weeks to clean it up before I send it off and I hope to God a few friends will be able to read it quickly and tell me anything I'm missing that's also a glaring wreck.

*worries*

I freaked out and did a dump of the last few chapters from the fourth draft to see how much material there is. Turns out there is 2.5 times as much as I wanted. So my draft is now:

89501 / 80000 words. 112% done!

Uh. No good. I think I've done all I can do this afternoon. I'll need to sit down with the chart and look at what I absolutely need and cull accordingly. I know there are important threads that are not picked up in those scenes from the last draft. So. yeah.
