AWESOME!

This OP-Ed piece on Sarah Palin (McCain's VP running mate--if you've been under a rock all day) is excellent.

"She hunts! She fishes! She eats moose burgers! She can gut a salmon as well as dispatch an incumbent governor! She’s a rural mother of five who clings to guns and religion -– exuberantly!"

While I'm thrilled to see a woman on the ticket--this woman makes me sad. She also has no idea what a VP does. While she has to be better than Cheney--that isn't exactly a selling point.

Why did I know he was going to pick a woman? Why did I have to be right? A lot of 'feminists' (i.e. Women who only want to see a woman in a high position no matter what.) will be sold on her. People who are bitter about Hillary losing? Despite Hillary endorsing Obama? Will rally behind Mccain and this woman.

....I wish he'd picked another dirt-old man.

Eh, I'm not sure that the Republicans that are in love with her conservative bona fides care about her experience or lack thereof any more than the Democracts in love with Obama's message care about his experience or lack thereof.

And I don't even know where to start with that op-ed.

The Op ed is hilarious as Op-ed pieces as go. It made me giggle a lot. I think it was the abuse of exclamation points. I'm not saying it was great journalism or anything more than silly rhetoric.

Thanks for the op-ed! I've been half-assedly looking for one on her.

My gut reaction was very much, "Oh shit, disgruntled Hillary supporters." But I heard the news from two coworkers, neither of whom seem to be bleeding hearts, and both of whom thought that McCain had just signed his death certificate presidency-wise. So that makes me hopeful.

I think the Daily Kos has one too.

I had just said to Jason that she looks like an uglier Tina Fey, and then I clicked on that link, and found out I wasn't the only one?

As I said to my very pro-Obama coworkers at the parking deck, WTH? As a woman, I am pretty disgusted by the whole thing. She got picked because she has a vagina, and is crazy conservative. She has no experience that makes her a worthwhile candidate. She was mayor of a town that's less than 1/5 of the size of my town, and then gets elected to state office just because the other guy was horrible. Come on.

I'm sure Tina Fey is loving the comparison! D:

Yeah, this choice is a really the worst backhanded feminism.

Dude, did you see the Daily Kos thing about how that baby is actually her teenage daughter's? WTF?

Yeah and the photos in the NYTs were... er... D:
