I love going to the vet!

This is my father's dog Dash, short for Dashiell Hammet. I guess we have a tradition of naming our pets after characters or writers. We had a cat named Orpheus (yes, he was black), a cat named Alexei, a cat called Lucy. We have a cat named Bertram Wooster now. My parents also have a lab called Truman. Though they were thinking of calling him Obama. So I guess that is a different direction.

You have to have a lot of time to walk them. They aren't like cats. They don't like to spend time alone. I want one too, but we can't have one in our apartment. :/

I don't have time for a dog. :(( Plus, my hours are so random that there wouldn't be a lot of stability. Someday, when I work more 9-5pm and maybe live in a house or in a better location? My city has lots of places for dogs, but our apartment is too small!

Guess I'll get my dog fix next time I go see the parentals!

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. When we go to Virginia for Thanksgiving we'll get dog circus.

I had a cat called Lucy. I gave her to my mom, though. She lived with me and Mom for the summer, then I went to college and had to leave her with Mom. College wasn't far away so I still got to see my kitty all the time. She was a fat calico with a skinny rat tail. Then I transferred to a school 3 hours away and I didn't have a car, so I saw a lot less of Lucy. Lucy lived to be really old. She was grumpy in her old age but mostly she was a good kitty. With a big appetite.

Our Lucy was black. She went out and never came back one day. No idea what happened. :(
