We got our tax return yesterday and we immediately sunk it into debt reduction. This makes me very happy. We will be free of credit card debt this year. Learning to deal with money has been the hardest thing for us as a couple. We're making excellent progress.

It's snowing. It's going to stop for a bit and then tonight and tomorrow we're supposed to get 10-15 inches. I'm skeptical. I know we'll get snow. But really? 10-15 inches?

I'm cleaning the kitchen and am going to make steamed brown bread, which is a weird New England thing. (I'm not using that exact recipe.) It goes very well with a nice arugula, pear, and blue cheese salad, and some homemade macaroni and cheese. [livejournal.com profile] flourish you are welcome to come over if that sounds good to you! :D

We're sending my brother in law a care package with cookies and nice coffee. So I'll be making almond macaroons and snickerdoodles too today. I don't know what else to do for them. They are too far away for us to visit and we can't help them financially.

I wish we still had the NYTs delivered on the weekend. I would really like to curl up with the Sunday crossword and my coffee.

I am not thinking about the novel today. I am not thinking about all the queries I sent out on Friday. Or that I haven't heard from agent #1 yet. Not thinking about it at all. Not worrying that I invested so much time and money in my education and in writing that novel and that it may never see the light of day. Uh? I have to scrub some more pots and get back to serene indifference.

Y'know, I'd think most women would love 10 to 15 inches. A lot of guys, too.

It depends. I think it's kind of excessive.

I think I will be tooling around Harvard Sq on Friday before my dinner with Vinny. Not sure how that is going to work logistically actually, like, should I go to Allston and change and come back for dinner? Depends on what we do for dinner I guess. Either way, I digress. My point was that I could come to your coffee shop at some point. I'm not sure when. It depends on when young Peter is available. Also, I have to go visit the phunsics dept.

Yay for paying off credit cards! Jason should have his paid off in the next couple of months, but I won't make much progress with mine until I am working full-time. Jason has student loans that I don't have, but those aren't near as scary as credit cards.

It's supposed to snow 3-6 inches here tonight, which is a ton for this area. It's been raining for the past two days too, so I bet there'll be a lot of ice. I hope the power doesn't go out. This is the first place (other than dorms that are on the hospital generator) that I've lived without a fireplace. If it does go out, I'll probably have to take my hermit crabs to my brother's dorm so they don't die.

Debt reduction, fresh bread, and arugula are all awesome things! I'm very sorry about your brother-in-law, though, and I hope things start looking up for him.
