I've read several fics in the last day that seem to send the trio and other students back to Hogwarts post-DH. Why is that? After what they faced haven't they proven themselves? Couldn't they just take their exams and be done with it?

I just can't see Harry returning after the showdown... Or was there something in the book I missed? I'm pretty out of it these days. :(

I can see Hermione wanting to go. I can see Ron not wanting to go. I have no idea what Harry would do, but he needs therapy.

AHAHAHAHAH! Ron/School OTP though. For real.

HEE! Ron/Hogwarts - I would write that if it could be non-con - Hogwarts loves Ron and pulls him in with tractor beams.

NO SHARKS ALLOWED. THEIR TABLE MANNERS ARE SHOCKING.

THERE'S A TABLE IN YOUR MOUTH TOO? :O

Third person can be fun! I didn't know you were [livejournal.com profile] ari_o. I'm bright.

Yes, where would the Aquarium workers eat if they had no tables? And the architects need tables to design stuff. And the butchers - oi, they need all kinds of stuff. Damn needy butchers.

Huh? Why would you know [livejournal.com profile] ari_o? She is annoying and never posts and her journal is more fun than this EMOTARD one.

Wouldn't butchers in the mouth be messy?

The name is familiar. But I don't know why. It's like one of those peripheral things, I dunno. Emotard is a bad word.

Not as messy as the zoo that is going in next year!

*worried the name is familiar because of wank, hoping it is because of the bunnysuit or something*

Wow, that's some incredible mouth you have! (Please let me be the only person who has typed that statement to you thus far...)

I think it was because of the Ms Scribe thing but I seriously wouldn't worry about it. At least, it's not something that matters to me personally.

posted by [identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com at 06:56am on 26/07/2007
Typed? Yes, you are the only one has typed that to me.

Ah, yes. That wank was no fun for me. And I generally like to gather round the bon fire and toast march hares with everyone else.

posted by [identity profile] danbi.livejournal.com at 07:01am on 26/07/2007
Well I couldn't SAY it because...you know. My mouth doesn't fit in my computer.

I can imagine. I don't know what march hares are (I assume there are no april hares) but toasting is a fun activity. Mostly with bread though.

posted by [identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com at 07:07am on 26/07/2007
I have a mathematical formula for fitting mouths in computers, but it is mostly theoretical at this point. When they come up with a unified field theory I am sure I can make it work.

At wanks you toast march hares instead of marshmallows. Because marshmallows very seldom cause wank, and crazy people tend to do it all the time.

posted by [identity profile] danbi.livejournal.com at 07:34am on 26/07/2007
...right. Well. Good luck with that? And stay away from my mouth. :|

But crazy people are entertaining! They are in media anyway. To be honest, I got bored of wank. After three years, it gets to be a little repetitive.

posted by [identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com at 08:14am on 26/07/2007
I'm not a mouth highjacker! Jeez.

Crazy people are entertaining when they are not in your personal space or sitting next to you on a bus or the subway. Wank does get repetitive but that doesn't make it any less funny sometimes. Especially if it is pastede on for great yay.

posted by [identity profile] danbi.livejournal.com at 08:22am on 26/07/2007
You might be. Who am I to know? :|

Yeah I like crazy people in fiction, not as much in real life. There was a woman (schizophrenic, I think) who came and sat next to me in a Starbucks once and kept cursing for about an hour. I really couldn't tell if it was me she was talking to or...I don't know who. I have to admit, I don't know what pastede on yay means exactly.

posted by [identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com at 08:38am on 26/07/2007
During the infamous crystalwank2004 it became a catch phrase. She was the chick who photoshopped tons of art from photographs and tried to sell them as ART in the LotR fandom. The wank had 18 zillion madcap comments and someone said "their heads are pastede on for great yay" and it became a catch phrase for wank... or something.

I've ended up in many a subway car with crazy person whimpering and punching himself. Oi. What kills me are the crazy people who hold up signs, but those are too depressing to talk about. :(

posted by [identity profile] danbi.livejournal.com at 08:43am on 26/07/2007
I don't think I was around for that one - it was LOTR, wasn't it? Feh. That's pretty amusing though.

I don't think the ones around here hold up signs - or the ones that do have signs are usually quiet.

Well, NYC is a special place... there was a kid in my doctor's office the other day and we both waited for 1.5 hours to see the doctor and he started punching himself and crying. He was at least 15. Then I found out he was autistic and I couldn't understand why his father didn't take him outside or to the lobby of the building or something for a few minutes at least. The kid was freaking out about sitting there. SHEESH.

I'm sure there is a wiki on that wank, not to mention the wank itself is still there. All 28 zillion comments. Mostly it is drunken boobie flashing and filking...

I don't know a lot about autism but it sounds difficult.

I'm sure there is. I'm also sure I'm not going to read it, ahahah. I think the only wank I went back through and seriously read was the one with that girl who pretended to be Elijah Wood? Now THERE was some prime crazy.

The best fic I've seen dealing with that has Hermione going back and the boys going on. I've seen a fair amount of variety, though. :D

Which fic was that? :D

I haven't read any fic in years and it feels weird. Especially because I've spent the last two years basically editing fiction and I think I'm being overly critical now.

I didn't read your crackfic because I haven't seen the last Pirates movie yet. :(

Yeah, you'd think they'd just give them each a hundred N.E.W.T.s and let them go, especially considering the state of the school.

YES! That is what I was thinking. I mean if they gave Harry another one of those Awards for Special Services to the school again and said, see you in September I would be O_O Plus am assuming McG is in charge now?

You know, at the end of book 6 I was all "how can they not go back!??", but reading book 7 - how could they have gone back? I feel like, if JKR had put them back in school, it would have negated all she's said about real-world experience and actually "being out there". I can't see them going back to Hogwarts at all now (as students). It would be like going to college for four years, graduating, starting work, and then repeating your senior year of high school.

EXACTLY! Ok, so it is not just me then.

I'm actually divided. On the one hand, I rather think they did go back to Hogwarts for a year, completing their seventh year with Ginny's class. While they certainly have proven themselves, it's mostly with DADA. There's still a bunch of Transfiguration, Potions, and Charms to learn, especially if they want to be Aurors. Sure, they have a lot of guts and know a lot of DADA stuff, but there's a lot of advanced Tranfiguration/Charms/Potion and specialized Auror stuff (disguises, etc) that they don't know and that would be useful in their careers. I don't think it would be the Ministry/Hogwarts sending them back though--I think Hermione would force Harry and Ron to complete their education.

And yet, I also think they helped clean up the Ministry and route the non-Death Eater collaborators, like Umbridge. Perhaps they did go back to Hogwarts, did a lot of traveling to London to work on Ministry stuff. If so, I suspect that they'd be given quite a bit of leeway on following rules and getting assignments done, so long as they actually learned the work.

Regardless, people are very possibly writing the Hogwarts fic just because it's fun, and a known thing--and because it won't be trampled in a few years when the next book comes out. ;)

To go further, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the students didn't repeat a year. Muggle-borns obviously weren't even allowed to attend, and others were getting horrible detentions and having their studies interfered with by the Carrows. The professors probably had to do some creative scheduling and teaching for awhile.

posted by [identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com at 03:25pm on 26/07/2007
But that would mean everyone would go back and repeat their year and Harry class would not be with Ginnny's class.

True--I'm just still idly working it out.

I would think Harry could be an Auror if he wanted to after defeating the worst dark wizard or all time. I really don't think they would make him take NEWTS. But I could see him offering to, and wanting to learn the stuff he missed. And it would be cool if Hermione was like, we've already done all that in the real world.

I disagree. It wasn't just DADA. They did make potions and cast charms. They transfigured all kinds of stuff. The even learned History.

posted by [identity profile] qwyneth.livejournal.com at 03:59pm on 26/07/2007
Hah, it would be awesome if Hermione said that. ;)

Frankly, I expect Harry could do whatever he wanted, NEWTS be damned. The ministry is in no position to be denying him of all people anything. And it is true that he's a fantastic wizard and knows a great deal. I still think there is probably charms/transfig/potions/etc stuff that he doesn't know and that would be useful for him to learn. I see him more going back to Hogwarts for a year just to pick up some extra knowledge. I can just as easily see him, Ron, and Hermione throwing themselves into restructuring the Ministry.

I saw that! Isn't it an awesome article? [livejournal.com profile] ishaa and I were pleased to see that Hermione went into Magical Law Enforcement. :) I was annoyed she didn't say what Ginny's doing though--hopefully she'll say in the second part of the interview, which airs tomorrow!

Hey, I don't mean to argue about this Hogwarts thing. I was just telling you how I saw it. :)

Huh, I thought we were just having a discussion?! :D But I have been cranky for days so may tone may have sounded a bit meh.

Oh, yes. I hope she says what Ginny does. And then I felt bad and like I was saying it was bad to just be a stay at home mom like Mrs. Weasley! And I think that has to be hard - especially as we see how hard Molly works, how little thanks she gets, and how much freakin power she actually has when she takes out Bellatrix.
