Today I played a random game of "Let's put your hat on your monkey! No! It's too big! That's so silly! LULZ!" with a 13 month old at the coffee shop. She kept holding up her stuffed monkey so we could put her hat on him again and cover up his head. Then she'd pull it off and we'd laugh and laugh.

Then my friend Olivier came in wearing a giant black Russian fur cap and I lost it. He had the ear flaps sticking out and they were bouncing.

Random question: Have you used Scrivener to write? What did you think of it?

Actually this comment is to tell you raspberry leaf tea was a HUGE help to me back when I used to have cramps BUT I had to drink it every day, just drinking it once in a while or when I was having cramps was not helpful. I was going to say this at the appropriate post, but had to give bunnysuit!draco a shout and didn't want to comment twice. I am practicing conservation of comments. :D

Huh, that's interesting about the tea--like it has to build up in your system or something.

bunnysuit!draco is so ridiculous. :D

I love it when you use this icon.

And I hope I'm not overstepping anything, but since you've occasionally posted about how you are not sure if you will have children or not, I'm going to cross my fingers... when I read this story, I thought, "Oh, you would/will be such a great mom!" :)

Oh, I think I would be an OK mom if my health was better. But I just turned 39 and though part of me does want to have a kidlet David is not on board because of my health problems. I'd have to go off my meds and we're not sure what that would do to me. Generally I backslide into my depression off meds and can't do much of anything. And we don't have any close family or friends whom we could rely on for help if I had an infant and couldn't handle it. So it isn't practical and the idea scares both of us. If I feel like I still want a kid in a few years and my health is good and we can afford it--we'll likely adopt so that my meds are not an issue.

I bought Scrivener last year during Nano and there are not enough words in the English language to do justice to my love for it, OMG. I've written everything of substance that I've worked on in the last year (most notably, not just fiction but work writing and writing my essays for the Orals) in Scrivener, because it's fast and it keeps me productive and helps me organize my thoughts (and because I can lock myself into full-screen mode and force myself to pay attention. I am seriously considering uninstalling Word because I love it so much that I can't imagine ever bothering with anything else.

The one thing that I am not wild about is it's lack of a good word count feature. It counts words for each section, but it's hard to get a full running tally. It might actually have one, but I'm too dumb to know how to use it, though.

I love Scrivener. It's really streamlined, it's fantastic for keeping research and writing in one place, it saves automatically all the damn time, it exports in a pile of formats, you can easily look at two things at once (awesome for editing) and attach notes and all kinds of things. I've used it pretty exclusively for a while.

It is not great for formatting. But I do formatting after things are done. In mid stream, I don't need all that, and it's pretty great.
